How to Transfer Chase Ultimate Rewards to Partner Airlines

Introduction

Chase Ultimate Rewards is one of the most valuable loyalty program currencies.

You can redeem points as cash back, earn bonus points on select categories, and earn some more points when you book your travel via the Chase Ultimate Rewards Travel Portal.

And here’s where it gets better.

When you have a Chase Ultimate Rewards card that comes with an annual-fee, like a Chase Sapphire Preferred or a Chase Sapphire Reserve, you can transfer your points to partner airlines and hotel programs to book your next luxurious flight and five-star hotel stay.

Earning Points

To use your points towards your flight or hotel bookings, the first thing you will need is… well points.

Start small, and plan ahead to build up on your points portfolio, one purchase at a time.

Chase offers 3 cards that earn Ultimate Rewards — Chase Sapphire Preferred, Chase Sapphire Reserve, and Ink Business Preferred Card — each with its own unique benefits and sign-up bonuses.

Only if you have one of the aforementioned cards can you transfer your Ultimate Rewards to partners.

And brownie points if you have more than one Chase card. Let me explain.

Even though Chase offers only 3 cards that can be used to transfer Ultimate Rewards to travel partners, you can pair them up with other no-annual fee cards and expand your points profile.

For example, if you have a Chase Sapphire Preferred AND a Chase Freedom Unlimited card that earns a 1.5% (1.5X points), you can use the points you earn on your Freedom Unlimited card by transferring them to partner airlines and hotels too.

Some of the no annual fee cards include Chase Freedom Unlimted, Ink Business Cash Credit Card, and Ink Business Unlimited Credit Card.

Redeeming & Transferring Points

There are many ways you can redeem your hard-earned points on the Chase Ultimate Rewards portal. You can use it for purchasing Apple products, you can spend on dining, get your points back as cash, transfer to travel partners, and many more.

If you are saving your points up for travel, be mindful of how you use them for other redemptions.

To transfer your points to travel partners, click on the highlighted icon in your Chase Ultimate Rewards portal.

2. Visit the website of the airline or hotel you are interested in and  confirm travel reward availability.

3. Then, proceed to transfer points to the travel partner.

4. You can transfer points to your Frequent Travel program in 1000 point increments.

5. Once you confirm your point transfer, visit the travel partner’s website to book your award travel.

6. Point transfers could take up to one business day — some take about a week.

7. All point transfers are final and not reversible!
